The humble cardboard box...lid!
"Peek a boo!"
That's right, this lid belongs to a box which our fruit and veg was previously delivered in. The box then assumed the prestigious role of 'TOY BOX'. However, very often, before the toys even got a look in... the lid won a dance about the floor for some time!
Little fingers practised grasping, releasing and manipulating, and the large size of the lid (compared to the size of the baby) proved an excellent tool for the two little hands to practise coordinating movements when moving the lid about. Moral of the story here? Toys are often redundant in the presence of a cardboard box - lid - and perhaps also, that the very definition of 'toy', as we understand it in today's complex, consumerist, technological society, needs to be re-thought. Back to basics folks!
