Mummy's little kitchen hand...
His little eyes nearly popped out of his head with excitement when he saw me lift a chair into our (mini sized) kitchen for him to climb up onto and help out with the dish washing!
I am not exaggerating when I say that he must have been there, busily happy, happily busy, for 30-40 minutes, with a large pot and lid, a couple of plastic kitchen 'bits', soapy dishwashing liquid, sponge, and water!
Soaking,
squeezing,
scrubbing,
swishing,
swirling,
and a little splashing and sploshing amongst soapy suds and smiles...

...And when the dishes were well and truly 'done'... quick as a flash, he decided to help himself to a spatula, and help the frozen burgers defrost!
OK, so perhaps to some this make look like borderline child slave labour... but there can be so much wonderful skill development at work in a safely set up/ supervised kitchen - Hand skills, water play, sensory exploration, imaginary play and let's not forget a gloriously boosted self esteem! * * * * * * * * * *
