Bareena Park's $4.9 million transformation produced one of the most distinctive playgrounds in western Sydney, anchored by its signature piece: a koi fish slide. The koi fish design reflects the multicultural heritage of the Canley Vale community, where Asian cultures have deep roots. The investment shows throughout — this is a high-quality playground with excellent equipment across a generous footprint. Climbing structures, swings, a flying fox, sand play, and nature play elements surround the headline koi slide. The design aesthetic is cohesive, with water and nature motifs running through the equipment and landscaping. Ground surfaces are modern soft-fall with good drainage.

Bareena Park is a significant community space for Canley Vale, with sporting fields, walking paths, and open areas alongside the playground. The local community clearly values and uses the park heavily — weekends see families spread across the grounds with picnics, BBQs, and sporting activities. BBQ shelters and picnic facilities are well-maintained. Toilets are on-site.

Free parking in the car park is generally adequate. Canley Vale station on the T2 line is about a 10-minute walk. The surrounding Canley Vale and Cabramatta area is famous for its Vietnamese and Asian food — some of the best and cheapest in Sydney. A playground visit followed by a pho or banh mi crawl through Cabramatta is a world-class family day out, full stop.
