Best Indoor Play Centres in Sydney

We've visited dozens of indoor play centres across Sydney with our kids, and honestly? The quality varies wildly. Some are fantastic — clean, well-designed, worth every dollar. This page is our honest rundown to help you find the best ones for your family.

Our current favourites: Monkey Mania has locations across Sydney and charges $12.50-15 per child, with adult entry at $4-4.50 that includes a free coffee. Go on a Tuesday — it's quieter and the kids basically have the place to themselves. The cafe has snacks and coffee covered, though we usually eat before we go to keep costs down. No pass-outs though, so once you leave, you're paying again.

Planet Mino in Chatswood is gorgeous — AR walls, a 300+ ball pit, and they actually provide slippers for the bathrooms, which tells you something about their standards. They clean the ball pit with an industrial machine, which is more than most centres can say. It's not cheap ($15-19.50 per hour) and the underground parking is tight, but for the North Shore it's the one to beat. Go Bananas in Penrith is the Western Sydney favourite — 1800sqm of space so it never feels packed, and it's good for birthday parties. Chipmunks in Prospect is honest value: unlimited play, adults free, and you can actually see the whole play area from your seat.

Lollipops Playland has multiple locations across Sydney including Castle Hill, Penrith, and Parramatta — each branch has its own character, so it's worth checking recent reviews for the specific location you're planning to visit. On the budget end, Vitaland Kids Cafe does entry from $4.80 at their Liverpool, Miranda, and Eastwood locations — surprisingly decent for the price.

1. What to Look for in a Sydney Play Centre

After years of dragging our kids around Sydney's play centres, here's what we've learned actually matters. Forget the marketing — look at three things: can you see your kids from where you sit, how clean is the ball pit, and is there a proper toddler area that's actually separated.

Planet Mino in Chatswood gets this right — their baby zone for 0-2 year olds has its own ball pit and staff actually enforce the age restrictions. Chipmunks in Prospect has great sightlines from every table, so you can drink your coffee without craning your neck. For older kids (5-12), Go Bananas in Penrith and Area 51 in Castle Hill have enough space and challenge to keep them busy.

2. Indoor Play Centres by Region

Where you live basically determines your best options. If you're in Western Sydney, you're actually spoiled for choice — Monkey Mania has locations at Bankstown, Penrith, Blacktown, and Ryde, Go Bananas in Penrith is massive, and Chipmunks in Prospect is our pick for best value in the west. The Hills District now has Area 51 at Castle Hill, which opened in January 2026 and is genuinely impressive at 4,000sqm.

North Shore families — Planet Mino in Chatswood is your go-to. Yes it's expensive, but the cleanliness standards are noticeably higher than most places. South Sydney has Croc's Playcentre in various locations and Little Amigos at Carlingford as solid options. Inner West and Eastern Suburbs have more intimate play cafes, which are great for toddlers, while older kids might prefer a trip to one of the larger centres in neighbouring areas.

3. Pricing Guide: How Much Does Indoor Play Cost?

Let's be real — indoor play adds up fast, especially if you have multiple kids. The cheapest option is Vitaland Kids Cafe at $4.80 entry in Liverpool, Miranda, and Eastwood. Chipmunks in Prospect charges $11.90 on school days for all ages, with adults free and unlimited play time — that's probably the best deal in Sydney for a longer visit.

Mid-range centres like Monkey Mania ($12.50-15 per child) and Lollipops Playland ($14-18) are popular choices — the cafes have snacks and meals covered, or you can eat beforehand to keep costs down. Planet Mino at $15-19.50 per hour is at the premium end, but you're paying for excellent cleanliness standards and a genuinely nice space. Our tip: go on weekdays whenever possible. Prices are lower, it's quieter, and your kids actually get to use the equipment instead of queueing behind 40 other children.

The best play centres are those that engage the mind just as much as the body. For toddlers, sensory-rich environments are key to healthy development.
