The Complete Guide to Best Soft Play Centres in Sydney for Babies & Toddlers
Here's the thing about soft play in Sydney: not all toddler areas are created equal. If you've got a baby or toddler and you want somewhere they can actually play safely, it's worth doing a bit of research first.
The best dedicated toddler space we've found is at Planet Mino in Chatswood. Their 0-2 zone has its own separate ball pit, it's genuinely calm, and — this is the key part — the staff actually enforce the age restriction. It's worth visiting a centre first to check that the toddler area is properly separated — some centres do this better than others. Chipmunks in Prospect has a decent under-4s area with mesh walls so you can see in, plus their unlimited play time means you're not clock-watching.
For the kids cafe route, Ho'me Kids Cafe in Epping is lovely — Montessori toys, a proper cafe with actual good food, and a calm atmosphere. Cuto Kids Cafe in Castle Hill and Bankstown has enclosed toddler zones with sensory walls. Vitaland Kids Cafe starts at $4.80 entry across Liverpool, Miranda, and Eastwood, which is hard to beat on price. Monkey Mania has dedicated under-18-month sections — we find weekday mornings are the sweet spot when it's quieter and more relaxed for little ones. Honestly, weekday mornings at any of these places are a completely different experience to weekends. Calmer atmosphere, lower prices, and your toddler can actually explore at their own pace.
1. Best Soft Play Centres by Region
Finding the right soft play centre depends a lot on where you live in Sydney. In the Hills District, Cuto Kids Cafe near Castle Towers is a standout for its beautifully enclosed toddler zone with sensory walls and imaginative play stations. Castle Hill also has Joshy's Play Centre, which parents love for its warm, community feel and welcoming approach to younger families.
On the North Shore, Planet Mino in Chatswood has the best dedicated baby zone we have seen — a separate space for under-twos with its own ball pit and calm atmosphere. For the Inner West, Nubo in Alexandria offers a Montessori-inspired sensory experience with wooden toys and light tables that is worth the premium price. In Western Sydney, Monkey Mania locations at Bankstown and Penrith both have dedicated under-18-month sections, and weekday mornings are genuinely the sweet spot when it is quieter and more relaxed for little ones. South Sydney families should check out Vitaland Kids Cafe in Miranda for affordable entry from just $4.80 per child — hard to beat for a regular weekday outing.

2. What to Bring to Soft Play
Getting the basics right makes a soft play outing so much smoother, especially with babies and toddlers. Grip socks are essential — most centres require them and sell them for $3 to $5, but buying a few pairs online saves money if you visit regularly. Dress your little one in comfortable leggings or tracksuit pants with a t-shirt, and avoid anything with buttons, hoods, or drawstrings that could catch on equipment.
Bring a spare outfit in case of nappy leaks or messy play, plus plenty of nappies and wipes. A water bottle is a must — kids get surprisingly thirsty even in air-conditioned spaces. Most soft play centres and kids cafes have on-site food and coffee, but if your child has allergies, call ahead to check their policy on BYO food. Some venues like Chipmunks in Prospect allow it, while others do not. Remove hair clips, dummies on clips, and any jewellery before your child enters the play area. And one tip from experience — arrive early on weekdays for the calmest atmosphere and the best chance of snagging a good table with a clear view of the play zone.
