About Berry Reserve

Berry Reserve in Narrabeen has an utterly charming tram-themed playground that references the old tram line that once ran through the northern beaches. The centrepiece is a tram-shaped play structure — complete with seats, a driver's cab with steering wheel, and platform steps — that kids use as both a climbing frame and an imaginative play prop. There's something delightful about watching a four-year-old seriously "driving" a tram while their siblings climb over the roof.

The tram theme extends through the playground with station-inspired elements, but there's also a solid range of standard equipment: swings, slides, climbing frames, and a sand play area. The playground is fenced, which is particularly important here because of its location beside Narrabeen Lagoon — the fence provides peace of mind with water so close.

And that lagoon location is gorgeous. Berry Reserve sits right on the shore of Narrabeen Lagoon, one of the northern beaches' most scenic waterways. The views from the playground across the lagoon are beautiful, and you can combine a playground visit with a walk along the lagoon trail, kayaking (rentals available nearby), or just sitting on the grass watching the pelicans.

The reserve has picnic tables, BBQ facilities, and toilets. Parking is in the reserve car park — manageable most days but tight on sunny weekends. Bus routes along Pittwater Road service Narrabeen. There's no cafe in the immediate reserve, but Narrabeen's shops are a short walk. This is a playground that transports kids to a gentler era with its tram theme while keeping parents happy with fencing, lagoon views, and easy parking.
