Brickpit Park

Brickpit Park in Thornleigh received a major upgrade in 2024 that added a ninja warrior-style course to what was already a well-regarded playground. The ninja course features monkey bars, balance beams, cargo nets, wall climbs, and rope challenges that test agility, strength, and coordination. It's modelled on the obstacle course format that kids know from TV, and the appeal is instant — children queue up to attempt the full course and keep returning to beat their personal best.

The upgrade retained and improved the existing playground elements: climbing structures, slides, swings, and a sand zone. The addition of the ninja course lifts Brickpit from a good neighbourhood playground to a destination worth driving to. The equipment targets the 6-14 age range most effectively, though younger confident climbers will have a go too.

The park setting in Thornleigh is pleasant — established trees provide natural shade, and there are open grassy areas alongside the playground. BBQ and picnic facilities are available, making it a viable half-day or full-day outing. Toilets are on-site and were upgraded along with the playground.

Parking is free in the park car park. Thornleigh station on the T1 line is about a 10-minute walk through residential streets. The surrounding area is suburban with limited food options within walking distance — Pennant Hills Road has takeaway shops. Hornsby is a short drive for more options. The 2024 upgrade has given Thornleigh families something to genuinely be proud of, and the ninja course fills a gap that few other playgrounds in the upper north shore address.
