About Harold Park Playground

Harold Park's playground has a crowd-pleasing centrepiece: a large timber ship climbing structure that sends kids' imaginations into pirate mode immediately. The ship has multiple levels, portholes, a steering wheel, a plank (slide), and rope rigging to climb. It's the kind of themed play that works brilliantly because it gives kids a narrative framework for their play rather than just physical challenges.

Around the ship, there are swings, a sand play area with digger-style equipment, balancing beams, and smaller climbing elements for toddlers. The playground sits within the broader Harold Park development — a former trotting track that's been converted into a residential and park precinct. The design is modern and well-maintained, with good rubber surfaces and attractive landscaping.

The absolute killer feature of this location is the Tramsheds food hall, literally next door. Housed in the historic tram depot, Tramsheds has excellent restaurants, specialty food shops, and cafes. After an hour at the playground, parents can grab a Messina gelato or a decent flat white while the kids are still buzzing from their pirate adventures. It's the ultimate playground-plus-food-hall combination.

Toilets are available in Tramsheds (during business hours) and in the park. The park has open grassy areas perfect for picnics. Street parking is available but competitive — this is inner-west Glebe/Forest Lodge. The Jubilee Park light rail stop is about a 5-minute walk. The Glebe foreshore walk passes right through, so you can extend the outing along the harbour. For a polished, well-located playground with excellent adjacent food, Harold Park nails it.
