About Lizard Log

Lizard Log is the kind of playground that makes you feel like you've left Sydney behind entirely. Set within the Western Sydney Parklands' bushland corridor, this nature playground trades plastic and steel for timber, rocks, sand, and native planting. The play equipment is built from massive timber logs and natural materials — climbing walls made from sandstone blocks, balance beams from fallen trees, tunnels through earth mounds, and rope swings hung from sturdy timber frames.

The bushland setting is genuine — not a token tree next to a car park, but actual Cumberland Plain Woodland surrounding the play space. Lizards skitter across the paths (hence the name), birds are everywhere, and the air smells like eucalyptus. For city kids who spend most of their time on concrete, this is genuinely therapeutic. The play design encourages exploration and risk-taking in a natural context, which child development experts consistently advocate for.

There's a terrific covered BBQ area with electric BBQs and picnic tables, plus additional picnic spots spread through the surrounding parkland. Toilets are available and maintained to a reasonable standard. The car park is free and usually adequate. Walking and cycling trails extend through the parklands in both directions.

Lizard Log is not a manicured inner-city park — expect dust, insects, and uneven ground. That's the whole point. It's not wheelchair accessible and it's not fenced. Bring sturdy shoes, sunscreen, and water. The nearest cafe or shop is a drive away. No practical public transport access. But for families who want their kids to experience genuine nature play rather than another climbing frame with a slide, Lizard Log is hard to beat.
