About Parsley Bay Reserve

Parsley Bay Reserve is the playground that makes you understand why people pay Vaucluse property prices. Set in a sheltered harbour cove with a suspension bridge spanning the inlet, crystal-clear water for swimming, and native bushland climbing the hillsides, this is arguably Sydney's most beautiful playground setting. The playground itself is a bonus — the location does the heavy lifting.

That said, the playground has been upgraded with inclusive design principles and offers solid equipment for younger children: climbing structures with accessible elements, swings, slides, and a sand play area. The scale is modest — Parsley Bay isn't trying to compete with destination mega-playgrounds — but it doesn't need to. Kids play in the playground, then transition to the beach, the rock pools, the suspension bridge, or the bush walk. The whole reserve is essentially one giant play experience.

The swimming at Parsley Bay is exceptional for young families. The inlet is sheltered from harbour swell, the water is calm and clear, and a shark net provides additional security. It's one of the safest harbour swimming spots in Sydney. The suspension bridge adds an adventurous element — kids love walking across it, and the views up and down the harbour are beautiful.

Toilets and change rooms are available. There's a small car park that fills quickly on weekends and in summer — arrive early. The reserve has BBQ facilities and picnic areas under mature trees. No cafe, but the Vaucluse House tearooms are a short drive. Bus 325 from the city services Vaucluse. The playground is not fully fenced, and the beach is close, so watch younger children near the water. This is a magical spot that every Sydney family should experience.
