About Livvi's Place Five Dock

The original Livvi's Place — the one that started the whole inclusive playground movement in Australia. Opened in Five Dock Park back in 2010 and winning a Kidsafe Award in 2012, this playground proved that inclusive design doesn't mean boring design. It's a compact but beautifully designed space where children with disabilities play alongside their peers without compromise.

The playground sits within Five Dock Park overlooking the bay, which gives it a lovely breezy waterside feel. Equipment includes wheelchair-accessible roundabouts, sensory play panels, musical instruments, an accessible swing, and climbing structures with transfer platforms. The rubber soft-fall surfaces are maintained to a high standard, and the colour contrast on equipment helps children with vision impairment navigate independently.

What strikes you about Livvi's Place Five Dock is how thoughtfully integrated everything is. The accessible elements aren't bolted-on afterthoughts — they're woven into the playground so naturally that most kids don't even notice. It's just good play design.

The surrounding park has plenty of open grass for picnics, and there are BBQ facilities nearby. Toilets are available in the park. Street parking along Henley Marine Drive is usually manageable outside of peak summer weekends. The nearest bus stops on Great North Road are a short walk away. For food, Five Dock's Italian cafe strip on Great North Road is about a 10-minute walk and well worth the trip for a post-playground coffee. The playground is partially shaded by mature trees, but bring hats and sunscreen for summer visits.
