About Storey Park

When Hornsby Council dropped $4.5 million on Storey Park, the upper north shore finally got a destination playground to match anything in the inner city. The centrepiece climbing tower is genuinely impressive — a multi-level structure with rope nets, bridges, and lookout platforms that draws kids like a magnet. Around it, the playground sprawls across a generous footprint with equipment designed for a wide age range.

The bike and scooter tracks are a brilliant addition that you don't see at many playgrounds. Dedicated sealed loops wind through the park, giving kids a safe space to ride without sharing paths with pedestrians or cars. For families with children on training wheels, it's an absolute win. There's also a nature play area, sand zone, multiple swing types, and a water play area that operates seasonally.

Storey Park sits at the edge of Hornsby town centre, which means food and coffee are a short walk away — Hornsby Westfield has everything, and there are good independent cafes along the main strip. Hornsby station (a major junction on the T1 and T9 lines) is about a 10-minute walk, making this one of the most train-accessible destination playgrounds in Sydney.

The park has clean modern toilets, a car park (tight on weekends), and picnic areas with shade sails. The playground is not fenced but has good natural boundaries from the surrounding landscaping. The upper north shore has plenty of families and this playground has quickly become the social hub — expect to run into people you know on Saturday mornings. It's well-maintained and clearly a source of local pride.
